BARCELONA CONTEMPORARY ART MUSEUM (MACBA)

The Museu d’Art Contemporani was designed by the American architect Richard Meier. Meier’s architecture is based on a clear rationalism, and builds on the work of the masters of the modern movement, particularly Le Corbusier, combining straight and curved lines in order to establish a constant dialogue between the indoor spaces and the outdoor light that enters the building through galleries and large skylights.

The museum collects a significant set of pieces reflecting artistic creation in the last fifty years. In addition to a selection from its own collection, the museum offers a wide-ranging schedule of temporary exhibitions and develops an assortment of activities on contemporary art and culture.
