The International Bull Evaluation Service (Interbull) is a sub-committee of the International Committee for Animal Recording (ICAR) and, as a non-profit organization, responsible for promoting the development and execution of international genetic evaluations for cattle. It achieves this through coordinating international communication and research efforts, and providing a number of services to participating countries through the activities of the Interbull Centre in Uppsala, Sweden. In 2009, Interbull will have its traditional annual meeting from 21 to 24 of August, in association with the 60th Annual Meeting of the European Federation of Animal Science (EAAP) in Barcelona. Two meeting venues, located in proximity, will be used: · Casaramona/CaixaForum (August, 21 to 23), and · Fira de Barcelona (August, 24). Detailed event information also is available in the Interbull website: http://www.interbull.org/events/ EAAP Cattle Commission and Interbull organize together the session S4 in the 60th EAAP Annual Meeting with the title: “Impact of global market on cattle breeding programs and practices”. The session will be chaired by Prof. Georg Thaller and Prof. Jarmo Juga. The invited speaker of the session is Dr. Paul VanRaden, with the title “Future animal improvement programs applied to global populations.”
